🔦WARD SPOTLIGHT🔦

THE WIlLETT FAMILY

This week we are shining the spotlight on the Willett family.  Sherry and David have been members of the Desert Hills Ward for over 18 years.  They both attended BYU where Sherry lived in Heritage Halls.  One of her roommates was from Maryland and introduced her to David who is also from Maryland (near Washington DC).  Sherry in a native of Utah having lived in Midvale, Provo, Murry and Lehi.  Sherry majored in Business Management and Marketing and after graduation worked at Payless Shoes and  Travelers Insurance.  David majored in Political Science and Economics and is currently a manager for a printing Business.

The Willetts have 2 daughters.  Heidi was born in Utah and Sherry and David have dedicated their lives to being loving caretakers for their daughter who needs full time care.  Their 2nd daughter Heather is currently a student at BYU.

As we talked with Sherry we asked her several questions to help us get to know more about them.  Some things we discovered are:

1.      If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go:

a.    Paris.  Sherry studied French in High School and would love to see the Eiffel Tower and eat French foods.

2.     What are your favorite foods?

a.    Sherry:  Dark chocolate

b.    David:  Tacos and Spaghetti

c.    Heather:  anything at Canes

d.    Heidi:  all foods, especially fruits and vegetables

3.     What are some things you enjoy doing?

a.    Sherry:  reading and going to movies

b.    David:  Watching sports, especially golf

c.    Heather:  Phoenix Suns, reading, and movies

d.    Heidi:  Music and rhythm

4.       What word (words) best describes you?

a.    Sherry:  Compassionate

b.    David:  Patient

c.    Heather:  Gentle, compassionate, empathetic

d.    Heidi:  happy, friendly and social

5.     If you could live inside a scripture story which story would you choose?

a.    Sherry:  Esther.  She had so much faith and was willing to risk her life for her people.

6.     Do you prefer winter or summer?

a.    Sherry:  Winter in Arizona.  Love the months from Halloween to Mother Day.  When she lived in Utah Summer was her favorite.

7.     What is you favorite scripture?

a.    Sherry:  Isaiah 40:31.  “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

For several years the Willets were not active in the church, but in May of 2006 – 18 years ago – they knew they needed the gospel and the church would be important in raising their family.  They have been active in the Desert Hills Ward for over 18 years.  They have a special spot in their hearts for David Duke who welcomed them back.  He was the bishop at that time.  Both girls were very happy to be in church!  Sherry has served in many callings:  Stake Sunday School Secretary, Activity Days, Visiting Teacher Coordinator, Relief Society Compassionate Service leader.

This family has truly blessed this ward.
